Oreo Delight Dessert

Calling all Oreo dessert lovers!

Check out this Oreo Delight dessert recipe where I take the classic cookie and transform it into a dessert that is nothing short of heavenly! It is rich yet light and creamy with every layer bursting with Oreo flavors. This dessert is a winner!

Layers of Bliss: Creating the Oreo Delight Dessert

The beauty of this dessert lies in its layers 🙂

Oreo Dessert

1) Oreo base:

Usually, Oreo cookies are crushed and used as a base. But this is where the twist comes in! Adding some basic ingredients to the cookies and popping it in the microwave will transform these Oreo cookies into a fudgy cake which creates a decadent base for this dessert.

2) Whipped layer:

Next is a layer of whipped cream with powdered sugar and little Oreo cream which adds a light and airy texture balancing the overall richness of this dessert. Adding few crushed Oreos gives a perfect finishing touch.

3) Chocolate Ganache:

This is no ordinary ganache! I have added few scooped out Oreo cream to the ganache giving a hint of Oreo flavor to the ganache. The honey is added not for the sweetness but is the secret to making sure your ganache is smooth and glossy!

4) Topping:

This is where you can get creative. There are so many options:

– I have used single plain Oreo cookies (that were left after scooping its cream for the chocolate ganache).

– Dust some powdered sugar and it will create a beautiful contrast.

– Use some chocolate shavings (white or milk chocolate).

– Add a dallop of whipped cream.

– Or add your favorite fruit e.g. strawberries, cherries, etc.

The best part of this dessert is that all the layers can be made a day ahead and refrigerated. Then all you need to do is assemble them. You can either make this into individual servings as I have done or layer them in one large dish. Use glass containers to show off the beautiful layers of this dessert.

This is a dessert that fits any moment worth celebrating. It is a crowd-pleaser that does not fail to impress. It is one of those desserts which is impossible to resist, and you just can’t stop eating.

Oreo Chocolate Ganache Layer:

  • 3/4 cup whipping cream
  • 1/2 tablespoon honey

Oreo Whipped Cream Layer:

  • 1 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • 3/4 cup icing sugar
  • 5 Oreo cookies- separate the cream from the cookies

Toppings:

  • Oreo cookies (left over the ganache layer)
  • Icing sugar
  • Whipped cream
  • Cherries / strawberries
  • chocolate shavings

Instructions

STEP 1: Cake Base Preparation

  • Prepare a 8×8 inch microwave safe dish by lining it with parchment paper.
  • Take 20 Oreo cookies and roughly crush them (you can use a blender, back of a spoon or a rolling pin).
  • Transfer the crushed Oreos to a bowl and add warm milk and sugar and mix well to dissolve the sugar.
  • Leave it for some time until all the Oreos have dissolved in the milk.
  • Then using a sieve, sift the baking soda and baking powder into the Oreo mixture and gently fold it.
  • Transfer the prepared batter into the microwave dish and microwave for 4-5 minutes. It will have a fudgy cake/brownie texture.
  • Remove and let it cool completely.

STEP 2: Oreo Chocolate Ganache Preparation

  • In a microwave safe bowl, add whipping cream, honey and chocolate chips.
  • Heat it for about 1 minute or until the whipping cream is hot (NOT BOILING). You may need to add a few more seconds but do it in 5-10 seconds increments.
  • Remove from the microwave and leave it for 2-3 minutes (the heat will start to soften the chocolate chips)
  • Then using a spatula, start mixing in a CIRCULAR direction until all the chocolate has melted and you end up with a smooth, glossy ganache.
  • Set it aside to cool completely.

STEP 3: Oreo Whipped Cream Layer

  • Take 5 Oreo cookies and separate the cream from the cookies.
  • Crush the cookies finely using a blender or rolling in.
  • In a large bowl, add very COLD whipping cream, icing sugar and the Oreo cream we had scraped out earlier. Start whipping it either in a stand mixer or with a hand blender until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to over whip!
  • Now add in the finely crushed Oreos and FOLD it gently using a spatula.

Assembly

  • Depending on your container/box, measure and cut out the cake base layer. Place it at the bottom.
  • Next, scoop in the whipped cream layer.
  • Finally pour over the chocolate ganache.
  • Add toppings of your preference.
  • Refrigerate it for at least 15-30 minutes. This will allow the layers to firm up.

Notes

-Make sure the ganache and the cake layers are completely cooled before you start assembling or it will create a huge mess.
– All the layers can be made a day ahead and assembled the next day.
– If you have refrigerated the ganache it will harden. Just leave it at room temperature and it will soften. Give it a good stir and then use.
– I have used a dessert box. Its measurements are 3x3x2 inches (length x width x height).
– Do not let the whipping cream mixture boil when microwaving! It will burn the chocolate chips. It should be just hot enough that you can dip your finger in without burning it.
– Do not over-whip the whipping cream or it will turn to butter!
-Some topping ideas:  I have used single plain Oreo cookies that were left after using its cream for the chocolate ganache, dust some powdered sugar, use chocolate shavings (white or milk chocolate), add a dollop of whipped cream or add your favorite fruit e.g. strawberries, cherries, etc.
– Before serving, refrigerate for some time to allow the layers to firm up.
