Summers brings heat and sun but also lots of fresh, colorful, juicy and delicious  fruits. What better way to say hello to summer by using watermelons to make ice cold watermelon juice. 

Super easy to make with minimal ingredients, this recipe is sure to quench your thirst. In a blink of an eye your drink will be ready. This red drink is sweet and tastes so fresh that it is hard to believe that this red fruit can easily be turned into such a refreshing drink. For the best result, serve cold and fresh.

What is so unique about this drink?

The addition of black salt and chaat masala gives a zap of amazing, unique flavor. You can check out how to make chaat masala at home. 

In case you are wondering what is black salt. Black salt, commonly called kala namak, has antioxidant properties and low sodium levels compared to table salt. It has an umami flavor with a salty kick and is considered a vital ingredients for sprinkling over street foods, snacks and drinks. It is easily found in Indian grocery stores; and a small amount goes a long way. There is unfortunately no substitute for it so if you do not have it, skip it.

The honey can be replaced by sugar. You may need to adjust the honey or sugar levels based on the how sweet your watermelons are.

You can use freshly squeezed  lemon juice or store bought ones; if lemons are not in season or they are not available.

Watermelon Juice

Watermelon Juice

Servings 4 people

Ingredients
  

  • 3-4 cups watermelon
  • 2-3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon black salt (kala namak)
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
  • ½ tablespoon honey
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Instructions
 

  • Add all of the above mentioned ingredients in a blender and blend.
  • Taste and adjust.
  • You might want to add more honey if the watermelon is not sweet.
  • Serve cold.
