 Mint Lemonade – Sikanji

Sikanji, Nimbu Pani, Sikanjabeen or Mint Lemonade? Loved by all because of its flavors, which zaps every taste bud and refreshes the soul, it is more than just a beverage. It is a rescue remedy and a breath of fresh air on a scorching summer day!

This refreshing drink has two superstar ingredients: mint and lemon.

The mint brings a burst of coolness and freshness, while the lemon adds a zesty, citrusy punch. A blender and a few simple ingredients are all that you need – nothing fancy. Put them together and there you have it! It is that easy! Your house will then be smelling of fresh mint and lemons.

The black salt gives this drink a unique umami flavor. It is used in small quantities so it does not overpower the lemonade. You can skip it if you do not have it.

One of the wonderful things about mint lemonade is its adaptability. You can adjust the sweetness to your liking or add sparkling water for fizz. While some prefer their mint lemonade with honey, others options for sweetness include simple syrup or even agave nectar.

Some Tips:

  1. Make sure to get rid of the lemon seeds. You do not want to blend them. They will make the whole drink bitter.
  2. I like to blend the mint leaves and not muddle them. I feel that it releases way more flavor.
  3. Freshly squeezed lemon juice is preferred but if you do not have them or they are not available to you, you can make the drink using bottled lemon juice.
  4. You can definitely add the lemon pulp too. The blender will break it down and you will not even notice it in your drink.
  5. You can add more or less water to adjust according to your taste.
