Potato Bites

If you are looking for a versatile and crowd-pleasing snack that looks fancy but is easy to make then look no further than these potato bites. These crispy, golden nuggets of deliciousness are easy to prepare. They are perfect for any occasion, whether it is a casual get-together, a family movie night, a party appetizer or even a midnight snack. In fact, they are a perfect healthy homemade solution for French fries.

These small, crispy morsels of joy are the perfect blend of crunchy exterior and fluffy interior with a good kick of seasoning; and they require no pre-soaking or parboiling! They are a finger food that works for all occasions. Additionally, they are budget friendly and very versatile. You can play around with your favorite spices too.

You simply mix all the spices in the oil (melted butter can be used too) then toss the potato slices in a baking dish, drizzle the seasoned oil and mix well to make sure all the potatoes are well covered. Adding the water helps create steam to give a soft texture inside and even prevents the potatoes from burning. Adding cheese on top is optional but highly recommended.

There are a few options to cook it and deep frying is one of them. But I love to bake or air fry which makes these potato bites a guilt-free indulgence.

Potato Bites

Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 1/4 cup oil / melted butter
  • 2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1-2 teaspoon red chili flakes (adjust according to spice tolerance)
  • 2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1- 2 teaspoon salt (adjust according to taste)
  • 2 teaspoon chaat masala (optional)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Prepare the Potatoes: Start by peeling the potatoes and give them a wash.
  • Cut them into bite-sized pieces (roughly 1-inch cubes). Try to keep the pieces uniform in size for even cooking.
  • Mix oil, dried parsley, red chili flakes, paprika, garlic powder, salt and chaat masala.
  • :In a large baking dish, toss in the potatoes with the above prepared spiced oil. Make sure each piece is well coated with the spiced oil.
  • Spread the seasoned potato pieces in a single layer and add 1/4 cup water to the baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Flip the potatoes halfway through.
  • Bake until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  • Remove the potato bites from the oven, add cheese on top (the cheese will melt from the heat of the potatoes).
  • Serve with your favorite sauce/dip and enjoy

Notes

You can leave the potato skin on. Just make sure to wash the potatoes really well to remove any dirt.
